Macroscan of a blue carpenter bee (Xylocopa caerulea)

This is a macroscan of an insect specimen blue carpenter bee (Xylocopa caerulea). It was first created in 2021 and made into a rigged geometry asset for another project. Macroscans can be either geometry based or splat based depending on the application - This version has been reconstructed as a splat. The best way to view them is in VR which is the native medium for 3d content imo. Macroscans have also been 3d printed in a collaboration with Mimaki. See more at www.macroscans.com
